How it works

Local businesses donate their redundant laptops to recycling.charity
  • Our team securely wipes each device, refurbishes it, and checks it against our quality standards before it goes out to a new home. (See data erasure)
  • Any laptops that don’t meet our standards and cannot be repaired or refurbished are destroyed.
  • Some refurbished laptops are resold at affordable prices to help cover refurbishment, data security, and overheads.
  • The rest are donated to local schools and charities in Worcestershire.
  • We focus on supporting smaller organisations and those with a strong local focus.

Who qualifies?

We may be able to help if you’re supporting people in Worcestershire and would use laptops to make a real difference to their education, wellbeing, or day‑to‑day life.

Right now, we accept applications from:

  • Schools, academies, colleges, and alternative provision settings in Worcestershire.
  • Registered charities, CIC’s**, and community organisations supporting local people.
  • Projects focused on children, young people, families, or adults facing financial hardship or other barriers.

We’re not able to provide laptops directly to individual members of the public – applications need to come from an organisation.

* Organisations outside Worcestershire should apply so we can register your interest as we expand to new areas.
**All Community Interest Companies are welcome, but only those registered as a 100% not-for-profit will receive laptops completely free.

What we can provide

Availability depends on what local businesses donate, but typically we can offer:
  • Business‑grade laptops capable of running current software (usually Windows 10/11 or equivalent).
  • A brand new install of the operating system, with all previous data securely erased and drives wiped according to our GDPR‑compliant process.
  • Power supplies and basic checks so devices are ready for everyday tasks like schoolwork, office/admin, training, job search, or community activities.

We can’t promise specific brands or exact specs, but we’ll always do our best to match devices to how you plan to use them (for example: classroom sets, homework use, drop‑in access, or staff laptops for small charities).

What we ask from you

If we provide laptops, we ask that you:
  • Do not resell them.
  • Use them to support people who may not otherwise have access to a suitable device.
  • Handle account setup, software, and day-to-day maintenance within your organisation.
  • Keep simple records of where devices go, and share brief feedback when you can. That way we can show local impact and secure more donations.

(We don’t expect glossy case studies, just honest, practical feedback.)

How To Apply

To apply for laptops, you’ll just need to complete the form below.
We’ll ask for:
  • Your organisation details and the type of work you do.
  • Who you support and how laptops would help them.
  • How many laptops you ideally need.
  • How they would be used in practice (for example, “classroom sets”, “homework loans”, “training suite”, “staff laptops for a small charity”).

We allocate devices based on need and on what we have available at the time. If we can’t provide laptops straight away, we may keep your details and get in touch when suitable devices become available.
